Cloth baby diapers, like Bummis diapers and Kushies diapers, are all a little different. Use this article to compare cloth diapers by feature and expense.

Although cloth baby diapers have the reputation of being expensive and complicated, not all washable diapers are created equal. Bummis and Kushies are two popular brands of reusable infant cloth diapers.

Cheap Cloth Diapers

Are there cheap cloth diapers out there? Yes, but it can be difficult to find bargains. One simple way to reduce expense: Purchase a supply of cotton prefold diapers, which cost about a dollar each, in addition to the more expensive all-in-one diapers. Use the washable diaper as a diaper cover for every other change, by using a prefold to line the all-in-one. This will reduce the number of pricey cloth diapers needed, and lower expenses as a result.

  • Bummis Cloth Diapers – Bummis cloth diapers cost just over $20.00 each, but fit from birth to toddlerhood. One set of Bummis, and additional purchases should not be needed.

  • Kushies Diapers – Kushies diapers are less expensive, at around $10.00 each, but the larger size is necessary when the baby reaches 22lbs.
Cloth Swim Diapers

Cloth swim diapers are made to hold in solids, but don’t absorb liquids. Disposable swim diapers provide the same features, but do not fit as well. Special washable swimsuit nappies can even be used as diaper covers, with a flat or prefold diaper, but use the swim diaper alone when going in the pool.

  • Bummis Cloth Diapers – Bummis swim diapers are called Swimmis. These reusable swimming nappies close with velcro for a custom fit, and come in sizes ranging from SM to fit a newborn up to a toddler size that fits children up to 30lbs. Choose the size closest to the actual weight of the child, to ensure the best fit in the pool, but go up a size to use Swimmis as diaper covers.

  • Kushies Diapers – Kushies swimsuit diapers also come in a variety of sizes. From 6lbs to 50lbs, a Kushies swim diaper covers children up until late toddlerhood. Kushies swim diapers have elastic around the legs, and adjust with a tie-closure in the front.
Comparing Cloth Baby Diapers

There are many brands of cloth baby diapers, and doing a product comparison can be difficult. Learn as much as possible about each brand before purchasing, to make sure that the chosen type of washable nappies is the right one for each child.
