Combining machine learning with recent programming successes in Pseudo-DNA could lead to chatbots with the ability to more closely mimic human responses.

A new development in the art world may end up having a huge impact on the state of artificial intelligence (AI) as well as a variety of other technologies. Dolf Veenvliet, known online by his programmer handle, Macouno, has created a pseudo-DNA system for his 3-D modeling creations. The process he uses to create his "Entoforms" could easily be applied to any number of different industries.

How Does the Pseudo-DNA Work?

Macouno created a set of characteristics, each linking to a letter of the alphabet. When he names a new creation, his script (written in Python, and run on Blender 3D software) creates a new creature based on the characteristics associated with the letters in the name.

So what could this mean for AI? The possibilities are endless, but the same sort of philosophy could easily be applied to a chatbot personality database. Instead of programming a chatbot from the ground up, a group of programmers could collaborate to create personality traits, habits and other human-like characteristics. A chatbot built on a random set of well-focused personality traits could very well demonstrate less-contrived, and more human-like reactions.

Combining Machine Learning with Pseudo-DNA

Machine learning is a method of achieving a programming result without manually creating each line of code. Instead of writing the code, programmers help the algorithm learn how to improve its performance based on past results. Applying machine learning to the same example could result in a chatbot program with the ability to improve its ability to converse with humans.

Macouno Shares Details About Entoform Exhibit

When I asked about an upcoming exhibit of his computer-generated artwork, Macouno had this to say: "I am looking to take part in the next group exhibit at walls art gallery in Amsterdam. It's quite a good gallery, and they have told me they would love to show the Entoforms... I can confirm that the Entoforms will be on show at the affordable art fair in Amsterdam this fall, and in January at another venue which is yet to be announced."

Programming Advances And AI

The abilities of the programmers responsible for creating a program's code are the main limit on future developments in artificial intelligence. When computers collaborate with humans to advance and improve code based on past performance and future goals, the sky's the limit.
