Wireless routers provide wire-free Internet connectivity for multiple computers within a small home or business network. The Netgear Rangemax router is a relatively inexpensive model that has a very simple set-up process. This allows even those business owners who are relatively inexperienced to quickly get their wireless network up and running.
Cheap Routers and Small Businesses
Cheap routers, as long as they function well, can be a good investment for small businesses. The Rangemax wireless router is meant for home use, and priced accordingly. Small businesses can purchase a used or refurbished router for under thirty dollars, which is a considerable savings over high-end models.
Configuring Wireless routers
Before using a router, you need to configure it to ensure that all settings are compatible with your Internet Service Provider and mode of Internet access. The Rangemax provides a "Smart Wizard" for the simplest possible initial router configuration. This auto-loading program automatically detects the necessary settings for your wireless router and walks you through a customized set of instructions for each network.
- Insert the CD labeled "Resource CD" into your computer's CD drive. The Resource CD is part of the router's installation package.
- Click "Setup." When the installation guide menu opens, "Setup" is the first of the three options in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Follow the Netgear Configuration Wizard's step-by-step instructions for configuring the Rangemax router for your wireless network. The Netgear wizard automatically retrieves information about your network and Internet connection, to determine the steps that are necessary.
If you do not have the Resource CD, you can configure the Rangemax router manually by connecting a computer directly to the router and typing “http://www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm” into the address bar of your Internet browser. When manually configuring the wireless router, you will need connection information from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) such as the IP address of their DNS servers.
Netgear Rangemax Wireless Routers for Small Business Use
A Netgear wireless router can be very beneficial for small business owners. Not only are these wireless routers inexpensive, they are also fairly easy to set up, even if you don’t have the original Resource disk that comes with the router. Small business tools such as a wireless router can increase worker productivity and lower costs. For more small business information, read:
