Expensive project planning software may be a good option for a larger company, but for a small business, downloading a free project plan template for use in MS Word is a more viable option.
Project Plan Template
This project plan template allows managers to document tasks and dependencies to create work packages, and an overall task breakdown for the project. To download this file, ensure that Microsoft Word 2003 or a later version of MS Word is installed on the destination computer and any other computer that will be using the template.
Earlier versions of MS word may open the template, but formatting may not be consistent and fonts are often irregular when incompatible software versions are used. To open the template on a computer that does not have MS Word installed, use Open Office or upload the file for conversion through Google Docs.
- MS Word Template Download - Click on the “Download” button and approve the MS Terms of Service to save the file to a computer. Note: Always read Terms of Service before accepting, regardless of the site.
- Downloading Templates Without MS Word - Click on “Download” button and approve the Terms of Service as above. This will bring up a screen suggesting a manual download of the file, due to the absence of MS Word on the destination computer. Select the manual download option and save the file to the computer, making note of the file-name and location for later use.
